There is almost nothing worse than walking into your kitchen and discovering a pool of water on the ground. Obviously you have an appliance leaking, but it can take a little detective work to hunt down the culprit.  

Sometimes it is obvious as the pool of water will be directly under the dishwasher or clearly emanating from the sink. Sometimes you'll have to dry up the standing water and watch to see where the water returns.

If you catch  the leak early enough you can prevent damage to the floors which is important. If you believe the floors have been damaged by the leak you may want to call in your insurance agent. Whether you have renter's insurance or homeowner's insurance, both should cover any damage caused to your home including your floors and cabinets from a broken appliance that isn't under warranty as long as you catch it quickly and report it immediately. Your El Paso insurance policy will not cover the appliance repair, however.

If your refrigerator or freezer is leaking, be sure to check the internal temperatures to make sure they are still keeping your food preserved at safe temperatures. You may find you need to move your food to a cooler with ice, or ask friends or family members to store your food until you can repair or replace your refrigerator or freezer.
