Spring cleaning tips for your home.

Spring inspires us to whip things back into shape. From our bodies to our surroundings, we want everything to look, feel and perform better.

For improving home performance, start by looking for obvious sources of energy waste. Then consider upgrading your home appliances and equipment to high-efficiency versions. Here’s a checklist to help you get started:
•Fill in the gaps. Check around the windows, doors outlets and skylights for air leaks. Do this on a sunny day from the inside, looking for light and feeling for air. Seal up any drafts with silicone or weather stripping.
•Air it out. Install exhaust fans in the kitchen and in the bathroom to significantly reduce the buildup of unwanted interior moisture, reducing the load on your A/C.
•Dine outdoors. Instead of cooking indoors every day, go outside to grill. You’ll cut your home’s overall energy consumption.
•Clean it up.  This is a good time to pull out the refrigerator and clean the condenser.  Do the same to the dryer and clean out your dryer vent for faster drying times.
•Make sense and save cents. When doing laundry and dishes, wait and wash only full loads. Turn off the lights every time you leave a room and unplug electronics when they’re not in use.
