Dishwasher wont clean

Imagine using that little sprayer on you sink to wash you dishes. Don't touch the dish just spray it. How do you expect it to clean. That is all your dishwasher does. It takes the water and soap you give it and spays it around. Yea it heats up the water a little and uses a pump to increase the pressure. We expect way too much from our appliances.
I see it more and more today with the new energy efficient appliances. Customers complain that the dishes wont clean; or they wont dry; or its leaves a white film. Its not the dishwasher. Its the water temperature, water quality or your soap.
The water that goes into your dishwasher must by at or above 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Any less and it wont wash or dry. Most dishwashers will heat the water approximately 1 degree per minute. Each cycle last about 10 minutes. This gives you a 10 degree temperature increase. You cant wash dishes if the wash water is under 130. Just to summarize you need 120 to go in and 130 to wash. If you have these temps then lets look at your soap.
You must use a high quality branded soap with high phosphate content. Phosphates are what cleans the dishes. No phosphates means no clean. Cheap soap means no clean. If your soap gets wet while sitting under the counter, through it out. The active ingredients are now dead. Once you have the correct soap, how much do you use?
If you have hard water fill up the cup. If you have really hard water fill up the pre-wash also. If you have soft water use half the amount. You can adjust from there watching wash performance increasing or decreasing as needed.
